How will you abate / mitigate/ resolve Total Dissolved Solids of Effluents from the Mining Industry?

water quality standards
Rolly Reyes asked:

Mining Effluents normally are acidic with pH values lower than 5. Treating it with lime solves the problem however it increase the concentration of Total Disolved Solids resulting to the exceedance of Water Quality Standards. Putting up a filtration process is not economically feasible since the wastewater / effluent volume ranges from 25,000 to 30,000 cubic meters. Establishing or amending the effluent standard would take sometime as all the criteria , environmental & ecological and health impacts must be evaluated and assessed. Time is of the essence as it will affect the socio-economic impact of the mining industry and the ecology and environment as a whole.
